Your optimum eye health is our team’s goal. All of our doctors of optometry are board certified in the treatment and management of eye diseases.
Whether it is glaucoma, an eye infection, a foreign object lodged in the eye, ocular allergies, or simply a preventative eye exam, you can trust your eye treatment to the doctors at Midwest Family Eye Center.
Dr. Jackie McCall grew up in the small farming community of Max, North Dakota. She went to undergraduate school in Bismarck, North Dakota at the University of Mary and attended Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California.
There, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Visual Science in 1984 and received her Optometric Degree in 1986.
She moved to the Brainerd Lakes area in January 1987 and worked as an independent contractor until December 1999.
Dr. McCall then decided to go into private practice and opened Midwest Family Eye Center in Baxter. In October of 2001, she opened a satellite office in Staples.
Dr. McCall is a member of the Minnesota Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association as well as a provider in the InfantSee program, which provides comprehensive eye exams to infants.
"Optometry is a great profession," said Dr. McCall. “It is wonderful working so closely with people on a daily basis. I feel it is a very rewarding career, because I am dealing with the perfection and preservation of vision for a lifetime of sight.”
"I would like to personally thank my patients for their continued confidence in Midwest Family Eye Center and extend my welcome to any new patients."
Dr. Torvin Rajala spent his childhood in Isanti, MN. He graduated from Cambridge-Isanti High school in 2014, and then graduated from University Of Minnesota Duluth with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry in 2018. While attending UMD, Dr. Rajala worked as a research assistant in the chemistry department, where his results were later published in the Biophysical Journal in 2019. He then went on to attend the University Of Missouri St. Louis College Of Optometry, where he received his doctorate in 2022.
Dr. Rajala now lives in Brainerd with his wife and two dogs. When not in the office he is an active outdoorsman, and enjoys spending time hunting, fishing, and camping. He and his wife love to visit, and have taken many trips to Gooseberry Falls State park. Most recently they explored Glacier National Park, and did some fishing along Flathead River in Montana.
Dr. Rajala began thinking of pursuing a career in optometry back when he was in high school. He attended a class on different health related careers, and after shadowing an optometrist at that time, he fell in love with the field of optometry.
Dr. Rajala is actively seeing patients of all age ranges, and looks forward to providing your family with excellent eye care.
